Read here and learn what Mr.Narayan Murthy, the Infosys co-founder, thinks about ChatGPT and how it will affect jobs in 2025.
N.R. Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, has voiced confidence about AI’s (Artificial Intelligence) revolutionary potential and ability to accelerate growth in the sector, particularly in light of employment losses. He is popular for sharing his thoughts on numerous topics, and made a significant revelation concerning his use of AI technologies. He stated that he utilizes OpenAI’s ChatGPT to create speeches and prepare courses.
He delineated how a generative AI tool has remarkably simplified his preparation procedures. While highlighting the important 5-times increase in his productivity, he stated:
“Earlier…it used to take around 25-30 hours to prepare a lecture…but with ChatGPT…in five hours, I could improve the draft.”
How AI Helped Narayana Murthy Build a Better Business
Murthy described how this generative AI technology has greatly streamlined his preparation process. Murthy emphasized a tremendous 5-fold boost in his private productivity, adding:
“Earlier…it used to take around 25-30 hours to prepare for a lecture…but with ChatGPT…in five hours, I can improve the draft.”
Concerned about the impact of AI on employment around the world, he said:
“This whole fear that technology will take away jobs is not true. It will create a different kind of job.”
He also amplified his experience with one of the most popular generative AI tools, ChatGPT, he mentioned:
“For example, what I found in using ChatGPT for my speeches was – the smartness is in providing the necessary definitions for my speech. The intelligence is in asking the right questions.“

Remembering the Good Old Days with Simple Joys
While recalling his early career, he remembered building reusable code skeletons in the latter part of the 1970s. He said that generative AI has now enabled programmers or engineers to automate similar frameworks on a large scale. He mentioned:
“Once the skeletons are built by AI, it becomes extremely easy for programmers, for large numbers of programmers, to produce high-quality code, high-quality programs.”
Murthy compared the introduction of computers to the UK banking sector during 70s, which primarily faced resistance from the Union strikes. He shared that after the explained discussion about the enhanced productivity that computers and their benefits to the employees’ work-life balance.
He stated that this adjustment resulted in a 40- to 50-fold growth in banking jobs in both the UK and the US. He expects artificial intelligence to accomplish the same in the 21st century.
